Mediclinic At Home is a Mediclinic admission that takes place where you live.

Your doctor admits you and stays responsible for your care. Professional nurses visit you at home and monitor you around the clock. You see your doctor every day by video call. It is arranged by your doctor, not booked online. If your doctor has offered it to you, this section explains what it involves.

What it is

A hospital admission at home, not home nursing. Two routes: instead of a hospital ward (from the Emergency Centre or doctor's rooms), or to finish a hospital stay at home. Same treatment and the same clinical responsibility as in hospital.

Who it's for

Adults (18+) who need general-ward care; member of a participating medical scheme; live within 30km by road of a participating Mediclinic hospital; someone can stay with you throughout; home has running water, electricity and a bathroom. Only your doctor decides if it is suitable. Include a short "Not the right service?" note for people looking for frail care or long-term nursing.

How it works

Step by step: doctor offers it → you consent → we arrange medical aid authorisation and medication → you go home → a nurse arrives, fits the monitoring device and starts treatment → daily nurse visits and a daily video call with your doctor → your doctor discharges you → we call you 48 hours and 30 days later.

Your care team and safety

Who does what: your treating doctor, homecare nurses (visits 06:00–22:00), Care Collaboration Centre nurses (24 hours), a doctor on call at all times, ER24 for emergencies. What happens if you get worse: nurses see changes in your readings and will call you, alert your doctor, send a nurse or send an ambulance. Moving to hospital, if needed, is part of the design.

What we ask of you

Someone must stay with you (or your doctor can request a care worker, subject to authorisation); stay at your admission address; wear the monitoring device; be available for visits at times set by your treatment plan; rest and limit visitors; video consultations are recorded for your record. You can withdraw at any time. Link to the full Terms of Service.

Medical aid and costs

Paid from your scheme's Hospital at Home benefit once authorised, not from day-to-day savings. List what is covered (monitoring devices, nursing and care coordination, allied health your doctor requests, pathology, radiology, medication, care workers where applicable). Doctors' fees are billed separately. Some plans may charge a co-payment if you choose hospital instead; this is the scheme's rule, not Mediclinic's. Participating schemes list. Who to ask: your scheme for benefits, our team for authorisation, your doctor for clinical advice.
