Core competencies
Dr Sarel Theron’s core competencies include the diagnosis and management of a broad range of acute and chronic neurological conditions across both inpatient and outpatient settings. He has specialised expertise in movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and dystonia, and is trained in botulinum toxin therapy for selected neurological conditions. His clinical skills also include advanced neurological diagnostic procedures such as electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies, and electromyography (EMG).
In addition to his strong clinical and academic background, Dr Theron is recognised for his patient-centred approach, with a focus on empathy, communication, and collaborative care. He is also actively involved in medical education and training, with experience teaching medical students and contributing to academic development within neurology.
