Core competencies
Dr Yip has been a cardiologist for the last twenty years and trained in both diagnostic and interventional cardiology. He is an experienced interventional cardiologist with a fellowship from the Society of Cardiovascular Angiology and interventions (FSCAI) in 2018. His cardiac interests lie in the following areas: cardiorenal medicine, diseases of the aorta and heart diseases in woman. He is interested in interface between cardiac and renal disease and completed his Master of Science degree dissertation examining advanced speckle tracking echocardiography techniques in studying the effects of chronic kidney disease on the heart and has published on this topic.
He has a deep interest in diseases of the aorta which is an ongoing area of research and has published in the prestigious journal, Aorta. He has been fortunate to be a co-author with Professor Karen Sliwa on some of her research in heart disease in pregnancy. He has spoken on the topic of heart diseases in women since 2009. After twenty years as a cardiologist performing urgent coronary interventions for acute heart attacks (which he continues to do), he believes that the emphasis of his practice is preventative cardiology and empowering patients to part of their own cardiac care.
