Mediclinic is proud to confirm that the building project to combine the current Mediclinic George and Mediclinic Geneva in a single, modern facility is well underway and expected to open in the second quarter of 2026.

In addition to the combined resources of both existing hospitals in one location, the new locality will offer some specialised services to create additional value for our clients.

Hospital General Manager Celesté Louw explains that the hospital will now offer a Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory equipped with state of the art imaging technology used to visualize the arteries and chambers of the heart and treat conditions like coronary artery disease, valve problems, and other cardiovascular issues.

“This is amazing news, as this key addition will allow our community to receive the best possible cardiac care without having to travel further afield for specialised treatment.”

In addition, a co-located day clinic will also be opening at the same time. Mediclinic George Day Clinic will offer streamlined care for day procedures, with the assurance that patients can return home the same day to recover in their beds. “Most of our doctors will also be operating from the day clinic, and by moving the less acute procedures to the day clinic, we can open up additional capacity in our theatres in the main hospital,” Louw explains.

Mediclinic George Day Clinic offers three fully equipped theatres and one procedure or scope room. The new cubicle design enhances the day clinic flow, which offers patients ample time to recover in privacy before they are safely discharged.

“As simple, speedy and easy access will be the order of the day, patients will have the added advantage of knowing their exact date and time of admission, as well as expected theatre and discharge times. The client experiences little or no waiting periods before and after surgery because everything will be carefully pre-arranged. Coupled with the fact that services are offered in a friendly environment with well-trained staff, it can only ease the patient’s stress levels while focusing on recovery,” she explains.

Mediclinic George remains committed to meeting the community's demand for care and expertise. We appreciate the community's understanding during the build and upcoming relocation and look forward to a new era for health services in George and the Southern Cape.
