Mediclinic Cape Town is pleased to announce the start of their much awaited upgrades and refurbishment of their hospital to ensure a better client experience for patients and meet the growing needs of the community.

To limit the impact on clients, the upgrades will follow 3 phases, beginning with the introduction of a Cath Lab to support cardiac patients, a dedicated cardiac theatre and a new paediatric CCU unit with additional paediatric beds. “These additions will revolutionise the care we can offer our local community. We have some world-class cardiologists joining us, including paediatric specialists, and we are excited about what this means for our community,” explains Rishdah Newton Johnson, Hospital General Manager. The hospital will also see a refurbishment of the adult CCU facility to ensure the best patient experience.

The upgrades to a dedicated Mother and Baby unit will continue to offer a world-class service with an enhanced experience, with surroundings that reflect the class and quality above what is expected of a hospital environment. “We want our new parents to experience this unique environment as they welcome a new family member. The expected quality care will now be reflected in an exclusive setting, where families can relax and get to know the baby.”

With the convenience of being situated right in the heart of Cape Town, future expansion phases will also deliver a total refurbishment of general wards and public areas for a boutique hotel-like experience expected from a world-class hospital.

“The future phases will embrace fresh design elements within the wards to offer a tailored patient experience and reflect the unique and distinctive beauty and heritage of our Cape Town surroundings by striking a balance between the warmth of a historical setting and the simplicity of modern comfort. The addition of approximately 200 parking bays will offer much-needed capacity.” Newton Johnson continues.

The introduction of a Vida coffee outlet to our hospital has been very well received, and we are focused on ensuring each change continues to deliver exactly what our clients need.

We would like to thank our patients and community for their understanding while we implement these upgrades. The project is expected to take approximately three years, with different phases impacting different areas of our hospital. We will continue to engage with the community to keep you informed.
