Mediclinic Newcastle Kintsugi Centre is a voluntary facility that offers 30 beds - 10 for men and 20 for women. We offer 5 private rooms with the remaining beds distributed in two-bed shared rooms. All our rooms have breathtaking views of a well-manicured garden and come with modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, TV, and an en-suite bathroom.

For our high-risk patients, we have an exclusive observation room conveniently located next to the nurses' station. Kintsugi is open to patients aged 18 and over for admission.

At meal-times, all our patients share the communal dining hall that boasts a scenic view of a garden with a water fountain. Our patients also have access to a gym situated within the facility's premises, overlooking the garden, with a treating Psychiatrist's consent.

We have strict access control and visiting hours upheld at Kintsugi to ensure privacy and safety for our patients and eliminate any possible interruptions- promoting a therapeutic environment. Our facility also has an arts and crafts room stocked with books, board games, and puzzles available to our patients on request.

Services offered

At our facility, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive care and support for our patients. As such, we have two highly qualified Psychiatrists who conduct thorough assessments of patients in their rooms prior to admission. This allows for a more personalised approach to treatment and ensures that our patients receive the care and attention they need.

In addition to our Psychiatrists, we have a team of dedicated Psychiatric trained nurses who are equipped with the tools and expertise to provide top-notch care to our patients. These nurses conduct daily meetings with patients to discuss house rules, daily routines, and any challenges they may be facing. This proactive approach allows us to address any issues as promptly as possible, ensuring a positive experience for our patients.

At our facility, we understand that even the most basic needs can have a significant impact on our patients' well-being. Our laundry department offers laundry services specifically for patients from out of town who may not have family members available to collect laundry on their behalf.

In addition to our medical staff, we have a team of Psychologists and Social workers who provide vital support to our patients. These professionals are available to patients by referral from our Psychiatrists.

Our Occupational therapy service conducts group therapy according to a ward program, with all patients required to attend as soon as a referral is made. The programme covers various topics designed to help our patients cope and gain valuable skills and techniques that they can use well after their discharge. Patients also have access to relaxation and art therapy as part of the group therapy programme. Our facility boasts a beautiful garden area where some of the relaxation therapy can also be done, but most of the group therapy classes are conducted in our Relaxation room.

We are committed to providing the highest level of care and support to our patients, and we believe that our comprehensive approach sets us apart from other facilities.
