Core competencies
Dr Tapeshwar Ajodha, known affectionately as Dr Taps, is a distinguished Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon with advanced training in hip and knee arthroplasty, revision surgery, and complex joint reconstruction. He completed two fellowships in joint replacements- one at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, the largest hospital in the Southern Hemisphere; and another under the current President of the South African Arthroplasty Society- who awarded him the Best Arthroplasty Paper at the South African Orthopaedic Association’s national congress.
Dr Ajodha has achieved notable national and international recognition. He represented South Africa at the AO Young Faculty Meeting, winning first place. Following this, he became one of the youngest South African surgeons to be invited as international faculty for the AO Foundation, the world’s largest orthopaedic association- based in Switzerland.
He holds a Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and a Master’s degree in Orthopaedics (MMed). He is a consultant arthroplasty surgeon at an academic institution, where he was awarded the department’s clinical and academic teaching prizes.
Dr Taps combines technical excellence with a compassionate, patient-centred approach. He believes in shared decision-making and tailoring treatment to each person’s goals- ensuring care that aims at restoring movement, function, and quality of life.
