Pre-admission centres
If you need to be admitted to one of our hospitals, you are welcome to visit the pre-admission centre, where a member of our staff will inform you about the procedure and/or treatment which you will receive. You will be advised about the financial considerations, how to obtain pre-authorisation for admission from your medical aid scheme, the amount of cover afforded you by the scheme and any exclusion of benefits which may apply to you.
If you are admitted to hospital during an emergency, we will obtain authorisation on your behalf, which will be one less thing for you or your loved ones to worry about.
If your child (12 years or younger) were to be admitted to one of our hospitals, he or she will receive an activity bag containing a gift.
All Mediclinic Southern Africa hospitals offer a discharge service to assist you to prepare for discharge and to provide post-hospitalisation assistance.
You will be advised on the discharge procedure, post-operative clinical information and relevant clinical information in respect of take-home medication.
We will also refer you to post-hospitalisation support groups where desired and will assist you in arranging follow-up consultations.
In addition, we have made a 24-hour helpline available to you should you require advice or referrals after you have been discharged from hospital.
We offer a specialised woundcare service to ensure that you receive continuity of care. This service is offered to in- and outpatients at a number of our hospitals.
