Medi-Clinic Southern Africa welcomes the appointment of its Funder Relations and Contracting Executive, Roly Buys - as a representative from the private hospital industry - to the 25–member NHI Ministerial Advisory Committee that will advise Health Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi on aspects of the National Health Insurance Policy, including the process of policy and legislation development and the implementation plan for the NHI system.

According to Mr Buys, Medi-Clinic looks forward to contribute to a consultative process that will incorporate key learnings from elsewhere in the world, coupled with local research. “We believe that this will lead to an effective NHI that is appropriate to South African needs and conditions. An inclusive process will also lead to broad support for an NHI that will provide access to quality healthcare for all South Africans.”
